About Poetic Flow

Ms. Rene’ is “Poetic Flow,” believing that poetry is the best form of expressional art.  It can sometimes reveal the most inner parts of who we are deep down inside, whether put down on paper and/or expressed in an open forum, or recorded in media form meant for the whole world to hear in a true rhythmic nature…it is the best and truest form of expression.

I’ve been writing poetry since I was a very young girl, having come into its element almost by accident.  I remember my mother grounded me for a whole summer.  I must have been 6 or 7 at the time.  And she made me read and write the entire time, listening to all kinds of music, reading some of the best classic book that many are now some of the greatest classic movies to date.

As I grew older, I became fond of inspiring poets such as Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and classical greats from Shakespear.  But no one has peaked my inspiration more than Prince.  Oh, I’ve followed his career from a very young girl to date.  From writing short stories of all natures and genres, to writing poetry which seems hard to get away from when you’ve done it for a long time.

My open forum experience includes doing poetry readings at Da’Poetry Lounge, and once was invited by Def Poetry Jam to submit a video for possible selection to be on one of their shows.  But my first poetry reading was done at a little cafe called The Meet Me Cafe located in Beverly Hills on Robertson Boulevard.  The woman who had gotten me started was a brilliant writer and performer.  I wish I never lost touch with her.

At Da’Poetry Lounge I’ve been honored to share the stage with the city’s finest talent such as the original members such as Poetri, Shihan, and Suheir Hammad and a great many others.  I remember there was one Tuesday night I attended Da’Poetry Lounge, Suheir had taken me by the hand and lead me to the stage to make sure I signed up for open mic.  The overall experience was very humbling; it inspired me to go on to complete my own works of poetry and to want to do more in the poetry sector.

I am a native of Los Angeles.  Believed to have been born to write.  I’ve been blessed to have written and published two books, “One Voice, a Thousand Words of Music” and “Sins of a Poet.”  They are currently available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and at PublishAmerica’s online bookstore.

Currently I am working on several projects, which I hope to complete some time in the very near future.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the works I post here on Poetic Flow.  For some of my older works I invite you to visit In a Creative Flow.
